Conserve Electricity

With today’s rising energy costs we are all looking for ways to conserve electricity and improve the air you breathe. How best to conserve electricity? One of the biggest consumers of electricity is air conditioning. The easiest way to reduce electrical consumption is to turn the air conditioner off and rely on cross ventilation

Cross Ventilation

Cross ventilation is the term used to describe how warm air is displaced by cooler air through openings in a building. Ideally, the openings are opposite one another. By simply opening a door or window, a breeze can blow directly into one opening and out the other opening that is opposite the first. The amount of air you move is directly proportionate to the size of your inlet and outlet openings. For example, an open door will typically allow for more air flow than an open window. The potential downside of cross ventilation is that open doors and windows allow easy access for flying insects and bugs. Retractable screens are a great solution for this problem since you can close them when needed and retract them when they are not needed.
